Smart Habit Saturday

Well, I am a little late this week and have missed about three weeks. I had a baby and needed some time to recover. So, after three weeks, I am feeling lots better and I am ready to start working on my habits again. This is our fourth child and it has really been the hardest for me to get back into a routine with my kids! But, things seem to be going better. So, I am going to have to work on the other two weeks again and I am going to make a new habit.

Here is my recap and new goal:

Habit 3: Night Before Church Routine- We had a hard time getting all six of us ready for church this week so from now on, I want to have everything laid out, diaper bags packed and basically ready to go . This habit will make my Sundays go so much better. I actually used to do this, but just got out of the habit!

Habit 2: Toy pick-up- actually I have continued this habit and have gotten the kids to do this before bedtime and it has worked wonders!

Habit 1: Make bed every day- well I was doing really well until after the baby was born and now I am taking cat naps. So, I will have to work on this one some more.

Thanks for commenting on my blog.

Shouldn't you be taking it easy? I know you'll probably be wanting to get back into your old routine, but don't overdo it. Housework can wait, and what the hell if you haven't made the bed!!!

After my fourth, Hubby went straight back to work and I was left to get on with it. I only had my next door neighbour, who would pop in for a few seconds to ask if I wanted anything from the shops. I felt like saying, "No, but would you mind filling the dishwasher?"

How old are the other children?

missionheart-Yeah I hear you on taking it easy. I have 2 year old twins and a 7 year old. This has been the hardest pregnancy to recover from and really I wish I could take it easy. With my other pregnancies, I could sleep when the baby slept but not with this one because of the other kids. i am sooo tired! More like exausted, but I have to do laundry and keep the dishwasher filled and take care of my other kids and get ready for church. Will I ever get over this exaustion?

Wow! 2year old twins and a newborn? You are busy and probably never get a moment to yourself. I can sort of relate-no twins here-but dh was in the bishopric when I had #6 and #7. It was hard to get all of us ready and out the door on time for Church each week. It has been heavenly to have him home in the mornings on Sunday since he was released last year. Good luck. Is your 7 year old a good helper? Don't be too hard on yourself if you can't seem to keep up more than just keeping laundry done and food on the table. Some days that's all that gets done here.

Congrats on the birth of your baby! I agree with everyone else--take it easy on yourself as much as possible. Do what you can to keep things running as smoothly as possible, but ditch the rest. You definitely need to rest and take good care of you.

Have a great week!

Congratulations Lorie! We're so happy to have you back but you know I would have written you an excuse if you had needed some more time off from SHS! Life presses on though doesn't it? Just do enough of the essentials to get you by.

See you Saturday!
