Online Full Episode Players

Well, as a SAHM, you'd think I had plenty of time to watch any show on TV I wanted. I admit I loved the early editions of Survivor and have faithfully watched American Idol the last couple of years, but really I am so busy at night with getting everything ready for the next day, baths and just time to read myself that network series shows really have not appealed to me. I would be missing them all of the time. I did not watch any all summer. I know that Tivo, or whatever you call it, could let me watch them later, but I really do not have the money for that. So, this summer I discovered that the library has lots of series season dvd's. I watched Lost season one and two and have just about died because I wanted to watch season 3 and it did not come out until December. Then I found the ABC Full Episode Player. I love this because I can watch the shows I want, when I want and never worry if I am going to miss it when I need to be doing other things. Last week I watch all of Lost season three. I was so happy to get to see it. The player does have some limited advertisements but hey its FREE! I have also watched a couple of other shows on there included Pushing Daisies. I love this new show, I watch every new episode. If you have not watched this show. I highly recommend it. Go to the full episode player to get caught up. I also checked out Ugly Betty season 1 from the library and that show is on the player too. I also watched Samantha Who on there. This is a new show that has the guy who played Matt on 7th Heaven. The show is about a girl who loses her memory and has to learn her life again. I do not know if this will be a favorite show or not, it is a little different. Another show I have always liked is House on Fox. I missed a whole lot of this season beginning episodes and my Fox channel comes in real fuzzy, so I thought I would check and see if I could watch this online and yes Fox has a full episode player too and I watched it on there. Also many of the networks have shows on the full episode players that can only be watched online, it never comes on the TV. ABC has one on there. I have not watched it though. So, check online and see if you can watch full episodes of your favorite shows(I added some links below to help you.) Once again, I like that I can watch my shows when I want and I never have to worry about missing a show because I am reading a book to my kids(which I feel is more important!)
CBS Full Episode Player-I watched Survivor on there a couple of times and had a hard time with the player, very different from ABC's player! The player would just stop and never start back and I could not figure out what I was doing wrong.
NBC Full Episode Player-I loked at this but really have not tried it.

Staph Infection=No School

Today dh took Nicholas to school and brought him back. We had not watched the news last night or this morning, so we did not know that they closed the school to disinfect. Lately many surrounding school systems have been closing because of an infection that is going around. It is a drug resistance staph infection and from what I understand you get a sore on your skin that usually contains pus and is just really nasty. This used to be gotten only by certain groups but can now be caught by anyone. From what I have been told, Staph infection is like Strep throat only it is on the skin. I have had strep throat many times and hated it. This looks so bad I know it is something I really do not want. I have even read some reports of kids dying in our area because of this infection. So, as a parent, this makes it even scary for me to send my kid to school. The way you catch the infection is by direct skin to skin contact or using shared items like towels or even touching items, like door knobs. We got this big letter from the school system yesterday stating things we could do to help prevent spreading this disease. It is really quite easy. Handwashing. I used to teach handwashing to kids in my former job and I would always tell them to sing the ABC song. Most kids do not wash there hands that long. Also, they recommend only using towels once and washing them in hot water. Some area doctors have even said you should only use paper towels for handwashing in your home. To get rid of this infection, which is really hard, you need to take an antibiotic and follow doctors instructions on treating the womb. The usual antibiotics to treat a staph infection do not work on this strand so you have to use a different one. You also have to keep the sore covered to prevent spreading it. I have a friend at church whose young son has had this for about a year. Every time he gets rid of it, he is fine for a while and then another one comes back. She thinks he got it from his papaw who was in the hospital and when he came home her son wore his shoes that he wore in the hospital. All of this is kind of scary! I also have some disinfecting wipes in my purse that I use on shopping carts when we go out. We do not have this in our house and I do not want us to get it. From what I understand other states are dealing with this problem too, so everyone should start taking efforts to prevent contamination. It really makes me think now when i go some place and all of the things that I touch. So, anyways, my son is home for the day and tonight we go Trick or Treat.

Pumpkin Carving Night

Every year that we have been married, my dh always carves the pumpkin. I collected Pumpkin Masters books every year before we got married, had lots of pumpkin carving tools, but never got around to carving(and really I do not like it) so every year we get out the books and dh picks a challenging one and has a really neat creation when he is done. Well this year, he decided he wanted to do one that was considered easy because he really did not have a lot of time to spend on it. This is the one he picked. I still think it came out pretty neat though. Also Nicholas' class went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch and they all got a small pumpkin. Nicholas carved his first pumpkin. I thought he did a great job.

Fall Into Reading Update

Well, I thought I would give everyone an update on my Fall Into Reading Challenge. I have 14 books on my list. I did add a few that I wanted to read and did not know were coming out etc. So, I do not know if I will get all of my list done or not, but I am trying and this is a challenge so it should be kind of hard. I have finished 5 and have 8 more that I want to read. I also know that I am on the reserve list at the library for Beverly Lewis' new book The Parting. Book Review-Return to Me

Return to Me written by Robin Lee Hatcher was the next book I read on my Fall Reading List. I have never read any books by this author until I read A Carol for Christmas. This book is the sequel to that book. Return To Me is a story that is a lot like the Prodigal Son. This story is about Carol's kids from the first book. Carol died years before in childbirth. Her youngest daughter Roxy is a lot like her mom and wants to go to Nashville to pursue her singing career. She leaves after getting an inheritance from her grandmother. After years of wasting her money, making bad decisions and about to starve to death, she decides to go home. She does not know if she will even be accepted. I really enjoyed this story. I really liked the story between the two sisters and the hard time they have getting back to loving each other.

Crazy Fun Weekend

I am so tired. I had a BAD nightmare and woke up and I really needed the extra sleep. Oh well! In my nightmare, my car broke down in this weird neighborhood. I was by myself, but it felt like at was on a college campus. Anyways, I went into this building, that was like a dorm, to call for help and it was so weird these "people" come running down halls and if you are there they stop you and will not "hurt" you if you give them what money you have. I had some money on me but knew I needed it so lied to them and said I had no money, but gave them a vaulable bowl, which they broke. They ended up coming for me knowing I lied about not having any money and tried to beat me up, but I had a paint can and told them I would throw it on them. Somehow I got back into the building and asked someone to call the police for me which they did. After which they told me the police would not come to the building because "they" killed so many policemen. I also remember something about a laywer, which is where I was coming back from when my car quit working, who had found information for me as to why me dh was so sick and that I should sue them and would get lots of money. Strange dream! Scared me! I woke up after learning that the police would not help me. My heart was racing! I hate that. I know weird dream!
~
We went to my church Halloween party and had a really good time. I felt like I never stopped yesterday! In the morning, I made Scarecrow Treats for the party (I'll share the recipe and a picture later), and got all of the candy and costumes ready. I'll also share some pictures later, I have not put them on my computer yet. My kids were all so cute. Nathan was the cookie monster and he would eat cookies (pretend) and make all of the noise that goes along with it. He was too cute. Nicholas wore his camos and a doo rag that he got at Wal-mart. He looked so good. His dad bought him this really neat toy machine gun and he broke it after only 30 minutes there. Kind of sad!!! It was not cheap. Katie Sue was Elmo, so my twins kind of matched. Neil was Blue from Blue's Clues. Someone had given me the costume before he was born and it was for 6-12 months(walker). Well the velcro where you open to change the diaper kept coming off, so it was really difficult to deal with. He is really growing everyday! I just recently was having problems with his diapers leaking, so I moved him up a size and it seems to be helping and he is waking up less at night. I got home late last night. I left the church and every child was crying in my car, it was like 8:30 when we left and it takes about 30 minutes to get home. Luckily, I had thought to fill the twins sippy cups up before leaving and I gave them those and made Neil a bottle and 5 minutes later they were all asleep! I think they were so tired from the night and *running* to cars for trunk or treat. This was the first year the twins really got into it.

Well, I know I am sooo behind on this blog and lately I have really slacked off! I have several tags and blog awards so I will try to work on those too this week. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Potty Training Update

Well, yesterday did not go great....Nathan #2ed in potty but some was on floor beside toliet, but still I thought that was pretty good. Neither did well at pee peeing in the potty yesterday. Potty Training frustrates me! And I still got three kids to potty train. Arrrg!

Weekend in Review, Random Thoughts, Update, etc!

This weekend was a very interesting day in the kids department. You all know I have tried to potty train the twins, but without any luck. I decided to give up! People kept saying when they are ready they will do it, so I decided to just let that happen. Mind you now if they turned 4 and still did not do it, I would have done something, but I decided just not to worry about it until they showed more interest. All week Nathan has been going and sitting on the big potty for like 15 minutes at at time. Today he did the same thing only he went #2 in the potty. He got a sucker and Katie Sue wanted one I felt so bad, but I told her she had to go potty and she did go pee pee. Wow that was hard to believe! It was like a party in my house tonight. Tomorrow we start panties and under wear, pray for me!
Also, I got out this toy and Neil is walking with it. Hard to believe he can do that and he is only 8 months. I really think he is going to walk sooner than any of my other kids did. I am so happy for him, but sad too because he is so growing up and he is my last baby!
In other news this weekend, my toe has really been hurting. Yesterday my whole nail came off. I got a band-aid on it and it is a Sponge Bob one and it looks like my toe is Sponge Bob. It hurts really bad!
We also went outside yesterday. It is so pretty out, all the trees are gorgeous! It was like 6o degrees yesterday and I sat outside and read a book while the kids played in the yard on there yard toys. We had such a good time! I just love this time of year. I get this feeling in me that I just can not explain. The first time I noticed it was when I was in college.
It is kind of like an excitement! I love this time of year!
We also finally have all of the Halloween costumes. Nathan wanted to be the Cookie Monster so Katie Sue is going to be Elmo. A friend gave me an outfit for Neil it is Blue and it is so cute on him! Nicholas is going to be a soldier. He is into soldiers right now. I do not know why but he is. We went to the library and he had a Librarian find him books about soldiers and war. It kind of scares me really, but he has not been fighting or anything. When we went to Wal-Mart the other day he went to see the board about the men who have served our country and are veterans and he really liked that.
I have got to get back into menu planning, I have not done it for about a month and I can tell the difference! So, tomorrow I will be posting my menu. We cooked a spiral ham tonight. Yummy! So, we will have leftovers, anyone know any great leftover ham recipes? Well that was my weekend.

Menu Plan Monday-October 22-28

I have not done a menu plan in a month and it really has not been well. so, finally i am going to menu plan again. Here is my plan for the week.
~
1. Leftover ham, broccoli cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans
2. Leftover ham casserole? Anyone got any great ones?(I might make Dawn's Tater Tot Casserole)
3. Lasagna Soup, grilled cheese sandwiches
4. Salisbury Steaks, green beans, mac and cheese
5. Homemade Pizza
6. Halloween Party at church I'm bringing Scarecrow Bars and Mummy Dogs
7. Tacos, Spanish Rice
~

Book Review:A Carol for Christmas

A Carol for Christmas written by Robin Lee Hatcher is the next book I decided to read on my Fall Reading List. I have never read anything by this author before and I really liked this book. She is a christian author. This is a very short book, I read it in a day, probably a total of a couple hours. The story is about Carol and Johnathan Burke. They decide to marry young and Johnathan gives up college and has to start at the bottom in his dad's department store and he has to work lots of hours. Carol is left by herself and really wants to pursue her dream of going to Nashville and becoming a country music singer, but she fells like she has to give all of that up for her husband. When a country music singer comes for a benefit Carol is asked to sing with him and she really tries to decide if that is what she really wants or not. She uses a lot of scriptures to help her in that decision. A quick read, but I really enjoyed it.

Book Review: When the Morning Comes

When the Morning Comes written by Cindy Woodsmall was the next book on my Fall Reading List that I chose to read. This book is the sequel to When the Heart Cries(click on link to see my review of that book). I really enjoyed that book and was anxiously waiting for this sequel. Hannah Lapp leaves her Amish community after having a baby that was conceived by rape. She heads out to find an aunt she did not know existed until she found a letter in her parents room. Her aunt had been shunned. Hannah finally finds her aunt and starts a new life, but is it the life she really wants? I really did not like the ending of the book, but the author set you up to want to read the next book. This book is action packed. One thing happening after another. I think it would have to be so hard to have to have choose between your Amish family and the worldly ways. This book really shows how Hannah struggled with that issue.

First Word Revealed

Thanks for all of your guesses. All of my children's first words have been Da-da. Neil's first word however is MAMA. Dh is so mad. He is trying so hard to get him to say Da-da, but he just says mama. Hr has also been waving and most of the time he does this with his little fist, it is so cute! I really did not try to get him to say mama either. Yesterday I was feeding him and he said what I thought was mama. Dh said noway did he say that and then all night long he would say it. I was trying to get him asleep and I said whose boy are you and he said mama. Dh rolled his eyes and said who do you want to change you and Neil said mama. lol! So his first word is mama!

First Words

Neil said his first word today. Want to guess what it was?

Tired!

I am so tired today. Well I have been the whole weekend. I can't get any sleep? My baby, who sleeps in our room, wakes up at least 5 times a night. I just do not understand. He was sleeping through the night fine and then for the last two weeks, he wants to wake up all the time? I fed him one time and he went back to sleep. I probably would let him cry it out but he cries like he is dying. I brought him in the living room and fed him this morning and all the kids, dh included. Then I put him in the playpen and he is over there just snoozing the morning away? I wish I could get the twins to want to take a morning nap because I would love to be snoozing like my little baby right now. Oh I hope he will sleep tonight.

Book Review: Candy Cane Murder

The next book on my Fall into Reading reading list was Candy Cane Murder, which is actually a book containing three novellas by Joanne Fluke, Leslie Meier, and Laura Levine. All of these writers have series about women sleuths. I have read all of these authors so I was excited to get the book when it came out. Here is a bit about each novella. Overall the book was great or should I say the three stories. I just wished I could have waited and read it when it was snowing outside or more of a Christmas feeling in the air. It was 80-90 degrees out when I read them.
~
Candy Cane Murder features Cookies Shop owner Hannah Swansen. She is always finding dead bodies and then tries to find the murder. These books are always filled with yummy cookie recipes and even a few quiches this time. Several of the recipes include candy canes to go with the theme of the book. This time Hannah finds the body of the famous department store owner who had just played Santa at a function Hannah was at. Hannah and her sisters find a candy cane trail as they are going to the parking lot which leads to the body. So, Hannah begins to question people to find the murder and as always she gets lots of help from her family and two boyfriends. Very good story as usual, I love all of the Hannah Swansen mysteries.
~
The Dangers of Candy Canes by Laura Levine was the second story in the book. this is another series that I read regularly. The series is about Jaine Austen a freelance writer and sometimes private detective. This story is about one of her clients, a roofer, who calls to tell Jaine he needs her to help find the killer of one of his recent clients who is accusing him of shotty work when the guy falls off his roof putting up Christmas decorations. The story was good and kept my interest, but I miss the story lines of her volunteer work at a Retirement Home where some of the characters there are really interesting and the constant e-mails between her and her parents were missing from this chapter. Overall though, great read!
~
The last story in the book was Candy Canes of Christmas Past from Leslie Meier's Lucy Stone series. I have read all of this series and really love her books! This story was nice because it went back to the time that a young Lucy and her husband and young son moved into the neighborhood. All of her family meet and the reader is told about her new grandson and that is how they start talking about when Toby was young and so they travel back and Lucy tries to help Miss Tillley solve a mystery. She wanted to know who killed her mother. Lots of neat twist as Meier brings in the characters from her books and how they first met. I really enjoyed this one too!

Ways to Reduce Stress

I found this online and really like it. I got a lot to work on!

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say "No" to projects that won't fit into your time schedule or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it!
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33. Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.

Pleeease! and Whhhy?

Right now these are the two words that I would love to remove from the dictionary....
~
Katie Sue does the ,"Pleeease,pleeease,pleeease......" routine whenever I say no about something. It is so annoying, but I do not give in and then she just lays on the floor and pouts. Nathan is a little different. Whenever I tell him no to something, he says, "Whhhhy?" He really lets the word hang like that too and the face that goes with it just really kills me. Too cute! So I got WHHHYs and Pleeeases going on way too much! Anyone ever had any experience with these two words in their kids vocabulary?

Book Review-Sweet Revenge

Sweet Revenge by Diane Mott Davidson was the next book I chose to read on my Fall into Reading reading list. I have been reading this series for a long time. I wait for the next adventure to come out! The series is about Goldie Schultz a caterer who is married to a policeman and she seems to find herself in the middle of murders. She also tries to solve them. Sometimes she even does this before police do. This time an ex District Attorney is found dead in the library as Goldie is setting up for an event that she is catering. Lots of clues are given as to who could be the murder and someone is even arrested. Goldie finds her self also seeing the person who killed her ex. This person was presumed dead. I really enjoy the non stop action in her books and two days seem like forever. As always, I enjoyed another Goldy book! The recipes included in the book are also always good.

What's with the weather? My weekend, etc!

Hi all I am back from my Weekend Getaway and it was great, except I am still tired. We spent the first night at my mom's and we can not sleep there. So by the time we got to the hotel all I wanted to do was go to sleep in my huge whirlpool bathtub. I think I laid in there for about 2 hours. I wanted to read in there, but that seemed to be really hard so I just gave up and relaxed! I kept thinking someone is coming in here to need me for something, but nobody came. It was just so nice. Then we got out for a bit and did a little Christmas shopping, not much because we really did not have much room to get it home. There was a new Walmart right across from our hotel that I had never been to. It was interesting because it looked like an upscale Walmart. There are now 4 Walmarts in Lexington and I went to every single one and enjoyed myself. I know some of you hate Walmarts but I enjoy them and I really am not much for malls. (now you all think I am crasy for sure) Saturday night we ate at the Crackel Barrel and we had a very interesting server. He told me that my Grilled Chicken salad was healthy only that my honey mustard dressing had xxxx grams of fat in it. Now who really wants to hear about how much fat is in something when they are eating out? But the guy was pretty interested and told us about being involved with American Idol and how far he got etc. After all the fuss with my honey mustard sauce he tried to get us to eat dessert, which we did! lol! We had a Carrot/pumpkin spice cake that was fabulous! The night before we ate at the Olive Garden and I had a new dis that was really good, but the best thing was the dessert a pumpkin cheesecake that was oh so good! There were only three complains with the weekend 1. My bed pillows at the hotel were awful! we asked for some more, but they said they had none. My neck hurt so bad! 2. Keeneland was in session a horse racing/betting place and the traffic was awful and no wonder our hotel was expensive and all the hotels I called for that matter. I can't believe that place. They had signs for drive thru betting, what are we coming to? 3. I can't remember the third thing? Maybe I wish it could have been longer because I had a great time. So, that was my weekend. i think my dh had a great birthday too. I was so glad to pick up my kids. I love them so, but I am so glad I took the break. I have never spent a night away from the twins since they were born except when I was in the hospital with Neil so it was hard to leave them, but I definately needed it. Oh yeah I remember #3. It was too stinkin HOT! Like in the 90's everyday. Yes, I want to know what is up with this weather? It is October come on I want at least some cooler weather.

Fall Holiday Recipes

(Note: I posted this a while back for works for me Wednesday, it includes all of my favorite fall holiday recipes, enjoy!)
~
I so love FALL! I love the cooler weather and how pretty nature becomes! I also love fall recipes. Dh really does not like pumpkins, squash, or cinnamon. When I make something with cinnamon I use the Pampered Chef Korintje Cinnamon , it is milder and dh has liked everything I have made with it. He will even eat a few of my pumpkin recipes. Here are some of my favorite FALL RECIPES and some new ones I want to try. Feel free to snag!

My Favorite Fall Recipes:
Nutter Butter Ghost Cookies(My kids call these Ghost cookies)
Mimo's Red and Green Popcorn Balls (we use orange and green for Halloween!)

Fall Recipes I want to try:
Snickerdoddle Cupcakes-I made these, they are going on my favorite list!

Where have I been?

I really do not know? I never do not blog for almost a week. I am just working hard and tired. I guess?? This past weekend, Katie Sue swallowed a screw. She showed me where she go it, in the door frame, or I would not have known what she swallowed, so I called the doctor who agreed with me that it could cause damage. So, a couple of days later she had an x-ray and thankfully, it passed! Katie Sue's also had another problem that some of you know about that she has used a cream to help with and thankfully the cream is working and she will not have to have surgery. My kids found my closet that I keep my games in and it has taken me forever to put all of the pieces back together. Anyways, I am finally going on my weekend getaway!... this weekend. We booked a hotel and it is a suite with a jacuzzi, but we only get it for one day. So, we are staying tomorrow night with my parents and dh and I are going out that night to the Olive Garden, it's his birthday. My three younger kids are going to stay with my mom and my older son is staying with my dh's mom. She plans to take him to the movies so he is really excited! So, everything has worked out and it just all fell into place and I can't wait until tomorrow!
