Smart Habit Saturday

Here is Lara's (The Lazy Organizer) explanation of what Smart Habit Saturday is all about:

SMART Habit Saturday is all about making one small change in your life at a time. Pick one daily habit that you want to start, post about it (please link back to The Lazy Organizer) and then leave a link here so that we can all check up on your progress and give encouragement! Next week you can post an update and a new SMART Habit if you want or just keep working on this week’s habit for 21 days. Don’t forget it takes 21 days to make a new habit so you’re not off the hook at the end of one week. You have to keep working on it!

Well, I decided to join in this after reading Kara's (A Bit of Me) neat things she was doing. I think I have only missed one week so that is not too bad. First off, I am not going to be making any big, hard goals right now. As some of you know, I am 34 weeks pregnant and my doctor does not plan on me going any farther than 36-37 weeks and right now I am having blood pressure issues and could have to go to the hospital next week. So, I am going to start really small!

First, I want to tell you why I picked this goal. Last week my dh helped me clean our room. We are going to start our nursery in there because we really have no where else to put the baby. I have a 7 year old and 2 year old twins occuping my other rooms. Anyways we got 6 garbage bags out of the room, two large boxes to give away, and 3 laundry baskets of clothes to go through. It took us a whole day cleaning in there and I worked part of another day just on the clothes. It had actually became my junk room! No joke! It looks so nice in there now! :) I can see my floor, bed, and nightstand table! And I really do not want to spend that much time in there again. So, I am going to start off small and make my bed everyday. I used to do this and it made me feel so good everyday! But after it became the junk room, I just left it there. I have also heard that a clean bedroom will help you sleep better. Well, that might not happen right now, as I am having lots of problems sleeping with this over 5 lb baby inside me, but I really think it will in the future and with this being my starter nursery, I really got to keep it cleaned and organized or I will go crazy! So, that is the goal I am going to work on for this week.

Also, I did this kind of thing with another group I was in, although they set the goals for you (I like this better!), and they had a great idea that helped me and I think I am going to try it again. It kind of helps you see getting the job done! I have a calendar on my fridge and when I finish the new habit each day, I am going to put a star sticker on there. As I add new habits, I just change the color of the star as I put them on there. I know this may sound kind of childish, but it really helped me last time so I am going to try it again!

Here is my bed and yes I made it today!!!

My doctors appointment

Well, tommorrow I will be 34 weeks. I delivered the twins at 34 weeks and my oldest at 35 weeks. The doctor has me very worried. He is worried about my blood pressure. It was 160/80 today. He likes the bottom number but not the top number. I am on the highest amount of med that I can be on at home. So, I have to come back next Wednesday and get it checked again. If the top number goes any higher, then I will go to the hospital. He actually told me to bring my bag. So, now I guess I am worried! On a good note, the baby's heartbeat was 149 and it weights 5lbs and 7 oz. That actually makes me feel better. Kate weighed a little less than that when she was born. Anyways that is my news from the doctor. :(

Deep Thoughts Thursday

Well, after reading some blogs about people with tough decisions, I decided to ask myself the question, What has been the toughest decision you have ever made in your life?" After giving this some thought, I thought of a few, but one stood out and I want to share that with you today.

In 2004, we found out that we were going to have another baby. This was really good news after trying to have another baby w/o success for 5 years. We went to the doctor when I was about 6 weeks because I was feeling so bad. They sent us to ultrasound first and I will never forget that moment! The technicin asked us if we had twins in our family. I said yes but you are not telling me we are having twins. I have twin sisters. Then I looked and saw two dots. Yes, we were going to have twins. At about 5 months, my doctor recommended moderate bedrest and suggested that I stop working because my blood pressure and the stress levels at work were just not working for me. So, I went on Family Medical Leave and stayed off work until October of that year. My dh and I had been talking about me staying home with the babies and not going back to work at all. This was a very hard decision because my job paid the most money and provided great benefits for our family including medical benefits. I continued working after my first baby and felt great about that decision, even though now I got some issues with what my son got out of daycare! So, after lots of prayer and deep thought we decided that I would stay home with the twins. I remember being so worried about how things would work out and a scripture from the BOM kept coming to me. When Nephi was going to get the plates and basically (I not great at quoting) but if we do the things we are asked, Heavenly Father will prepare a way for us to accomplish that thing. We have been counseled as mothers to stay home if at all possible and the Lord had given us twins so I went on faith that my HF would prepare a way for me to stay home and take care of twins. Well, somehow that has all happened. I really have not had a need that has not been taken care of. Even some of my wants I still get to have. I really do enjoy staying home, but I do miss my old job tons. I remember the going away party that my office gave me, I cried so hard that night! I do not think I will ever forget that. But I have had the confirmation that I am doing what I am suppose to do. Believe me when I say it has been a sacrafice for my family for me to stay home, but I know that I am doing the right thing. I know my children are being taken care of and I am happy!

So, that is the hardest decision that I have ever had to make in my life.
Want to have a deep thought Thursday with me and share the hardest decision you have ever had to make in your blog? I'd love to read about it.

TALK

I hate that dreaded word! I have not given one at church for a long time! The last one was right after the BOM challenge and I was asked to give a talk about The importance of the BOM, which was a really neat talk for me, so maybe this one will be the same? Anyways, last summer until October of this year my dh and I taught the marriage and family relations class put out by the church. This class is actually for anyone who is married or planning on getting married. Some people think that it is just for people with a troubled marriage, but that is really not true! There were so many useful things in the class that any marriage could benefit from hearing. So, now I just got to fiqure out what I want to say about it. I am planning on giving a brief overview of the class: what it is, who it is for, and even some of the topics it goes over. He asked for that in the talk but he also wants to know how it helped our marriage and what we got out of it. That is going to take a lot of thought. My dh wants me to talk about what it meant to me as a mother and he wants to talk about what it meant to him as a father and even go over a few principals that were taught about being a mother and a father. I really think that that is what it helped us with the most is being better parents. And by doing this, they get some small lesson about being parents. I actually kind of like that. I just hope that I will be able to talk. I have really been struggling with this cold. Anyways, better go get working on it. Thanks for listening to my thought process as I get ready to write this talk. Wish me luck.:)

Thoughts

Well, you saw my to do list for this week. I have gotten none of it done. :( Actually I have been pretty sick! I have been feeling bad since last Wednesday. My chest hurt and I had a cough. Well, today dh was home and I made him take me to the doctor. (Would of taken myself, but I really do not like driving in the snow!) Anyways, I went and I have an upper respitory infection. My throat is sore and I am coughing a lot! Pretty much though I can not take anything for the cough because of being pregnant so I have been using hot liquids and they do help some. My muscles hurt so bad from coughing! After we got done from the doctor, dh wanted to go get his books since he starts school next Tuesday. Which is another reason I wanted to get that stuff done this week because I would have his help. Well, we got home at 6 pm. We played a game with Nicholas. It was Monooly Jr. Kind of a different twist on Monopoly. I liked it but felt bad and wanted to go to bed. We all went to bed at 8:30 which could explain why I am up at 2:30. I was so hungry and need some more hot liquids. Well, with all of this sleep maybe I can get some things done tommorrow while dh is still home. I sure hope, but where I have been sick my regular stuff is also getting behind, so I am back to doing that again too. So, anyways that has been my week so far! Hope you alls has been better.

My 7 year old and church

My 7 year old has really good friends at church. He has been crying for weeks because all of the "big" kids get to move up into the valiants class. There were no other babies born in our branch the year he was born. He was in nursery all alone the whole time, so all of the other kids are lots younger or several years older. He has been so upset. Well, he told us he refused to go to the "baby" class. During sacrament on Sunday one of the "big" kids got up and bore his testimony and talked about how they felt like they were leaving Nicholas behind and they included him in there testimony about becoming missionaries and how they wanted to be like Nicholas because he really wanted to be a missionary. He hoped Nicholas would continue to be such a good example to the "little" kids in the CTR class. This really helped Nicholas and was an answer to my prayers! He went to his class without a problem.
