Cub Scouts
My 7 year old starts cub scouts tomorrow and he is so excited! He does not have the uniform yet, but I guess we are going to have to break down and get it soon. With the registration fee and the list of uniform stuff that need it is going to be like $150. Ouch!! But I know that my ds will get a lot out of it. I wanted to have him be in a cub scout unit at church but he is the only boy who is cub scout age in our whole branch so I am letting him go to his school one. DH plans to help out the den. Not only am I going to shell out $150, but they have activities every month plus biweekly den meetings. Those activities cost money! The first activity is at the end of this month and it is a fall camp out. You do not even want to know the cost of that, but they are providing tents and food. Anyways, does everything fun for kids these days have to cost so much?

Wow, I wonder if your pack's stuff is so expensive because it is through the school and not the church? Jakey's entire uniform (shirt, hat, belt, and the 3 necessary patches - council patch, world conservation patch, and den # patch) were only $60. His registration fee was $7 and the church paid that (You should ask the Primary Pres if you can turn in the receipt and get reimbursed for it) and we paid for a summer camp that was $90, but everything else has been free. We rotate who brings snacks to pack meetings and that's the only other cost we've had, our turn was in August.
Wow, that is a lot of money! Maybe like Dawn said, there's a price difference between school and church? Yikes! If we have boys I'd want them in scouts too, but I never imagined it would be that expensive.
Our Council charges a bigger registration fee than Dawn's and they have a lot of stuff on the list that I think we not have to buy, like $6 socks. lol
That is pricey,ouch!
I hope he enjoys it! :)
